Moca lan bridge1/13/2024 I described my final set-up, lessons learned, and things still not understood (mysteries) below as I hope this will be helpful for anyone else battling the same problem. UPDATE: Issue has been resolved! Thank you all in your help. MoCA 2.5 uses a wider frequency range and, consequently, higher frequencies than earlier versions of MoCA, so using components spec’d explicitly for MoCA becomes more important, especially as the coax plant size/complexity increases. I saw somewhere that splitters could be a problem, if they're not spec'd for MoCA.Which MoCA adaptors will work with the G3100? The older setup and new setup. But don’t burn too much time trying to get the extenders to connect to the G3100, because… You could repeat the above direct-connect coax test for each adapter, followed by the WCB extenders. If the adapter connects, it would be useful to connect a computer to the adapter and run an Internet speed test, to get a baseline for the best MoCA performance you could expect once the adapter is relocated to its in-room location. If the MoCA adapter doesn’t show a MoCA connection, get into the G3100 UI to make sure the MoCA LAN bridge is enabled. This will create an isolated coax connection between the two devices, eliminating any other possible conflicts. What I recommend is - when the associated disruption would be acceptable - direct-connecting one of your MoCA adapters (not a WCB extender) via a short coax cable to the coax port of the G3100. Is there a configuration option to enable MoCA in the G3100 admin GUI.Do I really need a ScreenBeam ECB6250S02 connected to the G3100.Maybe 2.5 has stricter specs?Īny advice on this issue is greatly appreciated. And after thinking about this some more, this is probably because I had the older WCB6200Q still in the system. The "COAX" light was finally illuminated along with G3100's GUI indicating a input. Still no "COAX" input indicated at this adaptor. I then added one of the 6250s to the router. Nor did the extended connection work (also with NO "COAX" light illuminated. The 3100 GUI admin interface indicated that no COAX connection was there. Also NOTE that I did not use adaptor with the old setup (G1000) So, I only placed a 6250 at the location I need internet extended. In this new setup, I initially did NOT connect the ECB6250 to the 3100 as I was under the impression that the G3100 doesn't need a MoCA adaptor. I recently bought some new adaptors in attempt to support the new 3100's MoCA 2.5 specs. But when I "upgraded" to the 3100, my MoCA system stopped working. I used to have the G1100 with these adaptors and everything worked fine. Thank you in advance.īackground: I have a Fios 3100 and a few MoCA adaptors. I've included as much information as I can think of. Hopefully someone can help me with this matter. I've been trying to resolve an issue regarding my MoCA setup at home.
